In the first ever edition of Timeout! with Tricky, one of FFI's original members, Mikaveli06 (formerly known as Biggie) takes time to sit down with Tricky. We get to know Mikaveli the family man (and ex-ladies man), as well as Mikaveli the Packers owner. Read below for the entire interview. You can vote for who Tricky should interview next HERE.
Tricky: Okay here we go... So Mike, you're an FFI veteran. How long have you been playing Madden?
Mikaveli06: Forever. If I remember right, the original only had 15 teams or so.
Tricky: Wow, so you go way back. What made you decide to join a Madden league?
Mikaveli06: Before I got into interwebbing, etc, I used to go through and name all the guys on NCAA football and MLB Baseball, etc. Then I came across a website (operation sports) and realized I wasn't the only crazy one out there doing that. That led me to finding leagues, as I usually dominated my friends, but didn't like the cheese of lobby games. It was a relief to find I wasn't the only one who spent a week correcting rosters before playing a single game.
Tricky: Yeah, I think we all share a hatred of those lobby idiots. Was FFI your first league?
Mikaveli06: I believe it was. No, it was second. First was on operation sports, but we had to enter our stats into a website, no franchise, only season. It was awful.
Tricky: Oh wow, that sounds like a job, and not much fun at all.
Mikaveli06: I think it was the first stripped down Madden on PS3.
Tricky: Well you seem to have settled in nicely in FFI. What's your opinion of the commissioner Mike?
Mikaveli06: Runs a pretty good league, I'd say. Makes the community as important as the games.
Tricky: I second that, and I'm not just saying that cause he's my cousin.
Mikaveli06: Didn't know that.
Tricky: See? Informative for both of us. Have you developed any personal rivalries?
Mikaveli06: Only person I know in real life is Muasa (Bears owner), so we are natural rivals as we workout together, etc. Oezeo is one for sure.
Tricky: Well, we can all agree on our dislike for Oezeo. Speaking of working out, I've heard people call you Biggie. Is it obvious, or is there another reason for that nickname?
Mikaveli06: I'm a big boy (325lbs). My PSN was Biggie at one time, but my friends all called me Biggie after Notorious B.I.G. I was big and ugly, but wore stylish clothes and pulled quite a few women most though would be out of my league lol.
Tricky: A ladies man. Not many in FFI, so I guess we're proud to have you.
Mikaveli06: This was four kids and a wife ago.
Tricky: So you just answered my next question. That's a lot to juggle on top of being in a Madden league. How do you pull it off?
Mikaveli06: That's the reason I dropped down to just Alpha. I got pretty limited playing time, but works out as it seems to be common time for most people. I usually lay my 1 year old son down at 8:00, and he is usually asleep by 8:30 or 8:45 and I'm up till about midnight. I was doing Alpha and Omega, but it was too much.
Tricky: Well you're a better man than most. Ok I think we've gotten to know you a bit as a person, let's get into the head of the Packers owner. It's been a tough year, what exactly went wrong for you?
Mikaveli06: Honestly, I missed about 8 games due to Comcast problems. So I believe I was around 4-4 in actual games vs. human opponents. Biggest problem was offensive line, which is being targeted in the offseason. I'm confident I will be more competitive next season. But my motto has always been "I'd rather lose a sim game than win with cheese"
Tricky: You certainly have the pieces in place and tons of character. You have the 5th pick in the draft, any idea where you're going with that pick?
Mikaveli06: Actually looking to drop back to the middle or end of the first round to get offensive line help and extra picks. Got a couple targets, but not worth the #5 pick as a lot of top picks generally skip offensive line and go for the glory positions.
Tricky: Sound strategy. Planning to spend in free agency?
Mikaveli06: I'm not gonna have a lot of cap space, but looking for a solid return specialist and maybe a good receiving back to play 3rd down and give Lacy a breather. I like my roster as is mostly. Upgrade line and a better TE would be nice.
Tricky: You seem to know your roster inside and out. With a solid offseason, you'll be right in the NFC North race next year. You've mentioned Muasa, the Lions guy is fairly new so we'll exclude him. That brings us to Cuse. How have your games gone against him?
Mikaveli06: We played some good tight games. I think of 4 games, one was simmed. One he beat me pretty bad, other two I think we were tied or I may have had the lead going into the 4th quarter before losing. Me and Muasa, every game is usually decided in the 4th, both winning half the time. This goes back three years between the 2 of us. Lions I beat Week 16.
Tricky: I saw, that was a big win. Helped Cuse win the division, he owes you big time on that one.
Mikaveli06: Yup, he was pretty happy.
Tricky: Well, I think we've learned some about you today. One thing I found out is that you're downright hilarious. Can't let you go without making a Super Bowl prediction. Which teams do you anticipate making it, and who wins it all?
Mikaveli06: Tough one. Bills was unstoppable on offense. Panthers have a good record, but I was tied with him in the 3rd before we got a disconnect, so Bills.
Tricky: So Bills over Panthers in FFI: Alpha.
Mikaveli06: This was fun, can't wait to read some others.
Tricky: It was awesome. Thanks for the time, bro.
Mikaveli06: Anytime
